Honoring Black-Owned Businesses

Founded in 2004 by historian John William Templeton and engineer Frederick E. Jordan Sr., National Black Business Month was created to spotlight the nearly 2.6 million African-American businesses in the U.S. These enterprises represent about 10 percent of all U.S. businesses and nearly 30 percent of minority-owned businesses.

From healthcare and personal services to advertising, restaurants, and consulting firms, Black-owned businesses are essential to our economy and communities. In cities like New York, Atlanta, and Washington, D.C., Black entrepreneurs are creating opportunities, driving growth, and leaving a lasting impact.
