BCGA Foundation Website: One Mission, Three Ways to Take Part

LICA helped bring BCGA Foundation's mission into a website with distinct routes for students, schools and partners, connecting a clear purpose with visible ways to participate.

BCGA Foundation Website: One Mission, Three Ways to Take Part

A mission becomes easier to explore when people can see where they fit. The BCGA Foundation website brings gaming, education and opportunity into one public experience, with distinct routes for students, schools and partners. LICA's task was to give that breadth a clear, welcoming presentation.

  • Challenge: Explain one mission to audiences with different reasons to participate.
  • Our role: Website design and development, connecting the foundation's story, programs and imagery.
  • Delivered: A public site with program information, audience routes and ways to get involved.

1. Start with the people the mission serves

BCGA Foundation connects its work in gaming with education, careers, scholarships, mentorship, and gaming and innovation labs. That range matters because visitors arrive with different questions. A student exploring opportunities needs a different starting point from a school or a prospective partner.

The website's job is to make those interests understandable within one shared mission. It needs to explain the foundation, show the community around its work and offer practical routes into the content. Keeping those jobs connected gives the creative work a clear purpose.

For LICA, this meant treating the audience as part of the website structure. A strong introduction could establish the mission, while the sections that followed could give each group room to explore its own next step.

2. Give the purpose a recognizable presence

Dark green, orange and large white type give the BCGA Foundation website a distinctive visual identity. The deep background supports the opening message, while orange brings emphasis to selected words, buttons and details. The palette creates consistency as the visitor moves between the introduction and the supporting information.

Images of BCGA's gaming community put the activity behind the mission on screen. The homepage pairs that imagery with the message, 'Your passion. Real possibilities. Game on.' The combination connects a familiar interest with the wider opportunities the foundation presents.

LICA's contribution was to bring the foundation's material into a coherent website experience. We focused the presentation around the relationship between the mission, the people it serves and the ways to take part. The imagery remains evidence of the foundation's community and work, within the website we helped deliver.

3. Make the audience routes visible

Students, schools and partners each have a route into the foundation's work. Giving these audiences different starting points allows the site to address several needs without losing its overall identity. The mission stays central, and the content provides more specific directions.

For a student, that might mean exploring program or scholarship information. A school can look into the network and the foundation's activities, while a partner can consider opportunities to participate. These are different questions, so the website gives visitors ways to investigate them.

Work sample: the homepage connects the mission message with gaming-community imagery and visible paths to take part.

The public site also brings program information and the school network into the same destination. That gives the opening message substance. A visitor can move beyond the headline to learn what the foundation does and where their interest connects with it.

4. Connect the story to participation

The homepage places routes to finding an opportunity and supporting students close to the introduction. This links the visual story with actions a visitor can consider. It gives the design a practical role alongside its expression of the foundation's identity.

For a nonprofit, that connection can support clearer conversations with students, educators and potential partners. The website gives people material to explore before they ask a question or express an interest. The delivered result is a public place where the mission, program information and participation routes are presented together.

The broader lesson applies to many purpose-driven organizations. When several audiences share an interest in your work, give them a common introduction and meaningful ways to explore further. A recognizable identity can hold those paths together while the content addresses the differences between them.

5. Build your next priority with LICA

For organizations considering a similar project, LICA's weekly way of working provides a practical place to begin. We agree on a priority and a defined amount of shared agency time, then bring in the strategy, design, development or production skills that work needs. We review progress with the client and scope what comes next.

The scope of a full website can extend across additional hours or weeks. A first priority might be clarifying the audiences, organizing the program information or improving a specific path through the site. Those possibilities are scoped together, according to the work that matters most.

That approach lets an organization begin with a clear decision about what to move forward. LICA can help connect the message, the creative presentation and the practical next step so the website has a focused role in the organization's work.
